There are two public beach parks along Stratford’s 14 miles of coastline.

Short Beach Park, located at 1 Dorne Drive, is a 30 acre beachfront property located at the mouth of the Housatonic River and Long Island Sound.

Short Beach includes picnic areas, a calisthenics course, a playground, a skate park, a golf course, softball fields, and courts for basketball, paddleball, tennis, and volleyball. There is a concession stand, showers and indoor restrooms. Short Beach hosts a variety of events and live music during the Summer. A permit is required for parking from May 31st until Labor Day.

Long Beach, located at the end of Oak Bluff Road in the Lordship section of Stratford, is approximately 1.5 miles in length. Long Beach is Stratford’s coastal barrier beach lying between the waters of Long Island Sound and the Lewis Gut.

Long Beach is considered an “unimproved” beach. There are no food concessions or permanent restroom facilities.A permit is required for parking from May 31st until Labor Day.
