The Department of Community Development is responsible for securing, implementing and managing the Community Development Block Grant Funds that Stratford receives from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development.

According to its Website, the town receives an annual entitlement from HUD of approximately $700,000 and begins its planning process for its annual action plan in January. The town’s program runs July 1 through June 30.

The Community Development Office also serves as the Fair Housing Office for the Town of Stratford, and provides information to tenants, landlords, homebuyers, prospective tenants and homebuyers, and others about their rights and responsibilities in the lease or purchase of housing.

Community Development is located in the Birdseye Municipal Complex, 468 Birdseye St., Room 112. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
